Every now and then, a student comes along who shows exceptional talent and stands out among the crowd. Liesl Rademan is one such student, having graduated last year from Friends of Design, she is now making her mark on the design world. Liesl completed her BA in Visual Communications at Stellenbosch and joined Friends of Design in order to round off her studies and apply her amazing conceptual knowledge to paper by learning the all important technical skills needed to succeed in the industry.

After taking some time to set up her business and work on her brand Catchatiger Design Studio, people have sat up and taken notice, most notably design showcase website, Between 10and5. This website is all about showcasing new designers on the block, showing their artwork and generally promoting them. Between 10and5 recently showcased Liesl’s work on their website, check it out here :
“Catchatiger Design Studio is a young design agency based in the Cape Town CBD. The business was founded by Stellenbosch University mates Liesl Rademan and Pieter Ludeke. Separately Pieter is working as a designer for an agency in Somerset West while Liesl is a part-time typography lecturer at CTI College of Education. Together Pieter and Liesl combine their strengths to form Catchatiger which specializes in high quality print, web, and motion graphics as well as illustration and animation work.”

Friends of Design has done it again!
Friends of Design’s ever popular FREE workshops have once again proved a great success, with our most recent “Reboot & Renew” workshop having being met with a fantastic response from our attendees.
This exclusive and exciting seminar covered Adobe’s Digital Publishing Suite, a complete solution and end-to-end service for Publishers. The workshop centered around producing, delivering, monetising, optimizing and creating publisher-branded content viewers for mobile devices. In a nutshell, creating interactive content for mobile devices. Friends of Design recently proved its ease of use and success through a unique collaboration with Design Time’s magazine whereby they created their first sample digital edition which was showcased on the Apple iPad at this year’s Design Indaba (read more here).
